Avoid The Pill By Using Natural Forms Of Birth Control

coupleWhen it comes to contraception, most people think about barrier methods, like condoms, and the birth control pill.

Whatever contraceptive methods a person decides to use is really a personal choice.

But, if a person really wants to avoid chemicals in their body, the best natural birth control alternative is to become more aware of your own menstrual cycle and fertile times.

Fertility Awareness

Now let’s define fertility awareness. Fertility awareness is when a woman monitors her fertility and avoid unprotected sex during ovulation, which usually falls somewhere in the middle of the menstrual cycle eg. Day 14.

For those who want to have a baby with the natural approach, it would be handy to have a natural family planning calendar to help determine which days are the most fertile and when ovulation is likely to occur.

This would be the best time to have SEX!

The Pill Is A Synthetic Hormone

the pillThe Pill was first approved for contraceptive use in the US in 1960. This synthetic hormone is currently used by more than 100 million women worldwide and by almost 12 million women in the US (source).

The pill is a very effective contraceptive as it contains hormones that manipulates the woman’s fertility cycle to prevent ovulation and pregnancy from occuring. But, like all drugs, it does have side effects associated with it.

Some individuals have reported all kinds of symptoms such as weight gain, mood swings, PMS etc.

I personally do not like the idea of taking hormones or any other potentially harmful substances that interferes with my body’s natural cycle, but there are plenty of people who won’t mind it.

The natural approach is just as effective as the pill, with no side effects. So why not choose the natural way of doing things?

Knowledge Is Gold

knowledgeThe natural contraception approach might help you and your partner have a better sex life. Learning how to monitor and become more aware of your menstrual cycle and fertile times means that it is not necessary to use barrier methods to prevent pregnancy.

Sex can be done during those non-fertile times (safe times) without getting pregnant. The guy might like the fact that he doesn’t need to put on a condom.

For those who want to learn and apply the natural contraceptive approach, I would like to recommend the ‘Natural Fertility Management Kit’, which can be purchased at HERE!

Watch the video below as Wendy Dumaresq from Rad-Pads talk about this kit. She also sells other eco-friendly products, such as reusable menstrual clothes and ebooks. Find out more about Rad-Pads HERE!

Conclusion

Choosing the natural contraceptive approach is a personal choice. There are benefits with learning about how your body works and when to have “fun” sex or “baby making” sex.

It will definitely be more enjoyable for the couple not having to use barrier methods or artificial hormones to prevent pregnancy.

What are your thoughts about the natural approach? Would you buy the natural fertility management kit and give it a go? Share your thoughts by leaving your comments below.

I love this article! I love the idea. Everyone thinks about the “rhythm method” but I know that I have always wondered about its reliability. The kit you recommend looks like, as long as you follow the directions closely, you should be able to avoid pregnancy. I am going to have to think seriously about this! Thanks for this awesome resource!

This article is really eye-opening. I know that most people know about the “rhythm” method, but don’t trust it. With the kit you are recommending, and if you follow the instructions closely, it seems like it is a totally effective form of birth control. I will have to give this some serious thought. thanks.

Taking the natural approach is a personal decision. So if people don’t feel confident using this natural method, then simply stick to what they feel comfortable with. But if they want to try it out, the kit is available for people to learn how to do it properly. Plenty of information there. I believe it’s always good to try something different at least once.

Had no sort of idea whatsoever that there were more natural forms of birth control. I thought EVERYTHING was chemical based these days!
Thanks for this article – very enlightening

Natural contraception is not new. People are just more aware of contraceptive products promoted by those pharmaceutical companies. If there was an increase awareness of natural ways to prevent pregnancy, then people can decide whether they want to try it and see if it suits their lifestyle. When done properly, people don’t need to spend any money on the pill or other contraceptive products. Unless they are concerned about STI, especially with a new partner. Please note that the natural method does not prevent STI.

Hello there, thanks for this great post. Today I have learnt something new. And yes I would certainly lean towards more natural instead of artificial. And I wouldn’t mind giving it a try

Thank you for all the incredible information. We are a family that believes taking the natural route is always best. There are way too many side effects in pharmaceuticals today. It can be very scary!

Hi Teresa.I am in agreement with the natural form of contraception as you have outlined in your article. As a health profession, I see a lot of ladies folllowing the route of medicinal contraception, be it injection, pills or patches. I hear a lot of complaints and side effects and I think a site like yours may be just the thing to offer alternate options.

This article has some really good information. Personally, I am battling with stopping contraceptives, because I do not like the idea of artificial hormones in my body, but I am really not ready to have another child yet.
I read recently that a woman’s cycle, before the times of birth control and so much stress in our lives, was in tune with the lunar cycle and that this makes us much more healthy and in control of our bodies. I am going to look further into natural birth control methods so that I start to regulate my menses and get back on this natural cycle.
    Thanks for your post.
