Guilt-Free Chocolate Sponge Cake

guilt free chocolate sponge cake

Who love sponge cakes? Who loves chocolate sponge cakes? I’ll have to put my hand up for that! Well, sponge cakes are very easy to make, especially if you have all the right ingredients. There are lots of recipes out there on sponge cakes, but I have found that they usually include lots of butter to make the cake itself. Some even use the whole stick of 250g of butter!

I don’t know about you, but I actually prefer not to consume too much butter. So in this recipe, I did not include any butter in the cake mixture at all! But the icing has only a little bit of butter (20g). Unless you are going to eat the whole cake, 20g is considered very little!

This is why I have called this recipe a guilt free chocolate sponge cake. The cake mixture alone doesn’t have any butter and not that much sugar either. So it’s ok for the waistline!

The icing includes an antioxidant superfood, Berry Radical! If you haven’t tried this one before, it really is very delicious! If you want to make more of this yummy icing for your cake, you can double all the ingredients!

I sifted the dry ingredients five times to achieve a superfine mixture! The eggs need to be at room temperature, not just out of the fridge!

The cake actually turned out really well as you can see in my video below! Just love the size of the cake!

For the sponge cake, you will need:

  • 1/3 Cups Self-Raising Flour
  • 1/3 Cup Plain Flour
  • 1/3 Cup Corn Flour
  • 1/4 Cup Cocoa
  • 2/3 Cup Castor Sugar
  • 4 Eggs (Must be at room temperature)

For the icing, you will need:

  1. Sift dry ingredients 5 times.
  2. Mix eggs and sugar with beater on high speed until it looks double/triple volume (approx. 5 – 10 minutes)
  3. Add flour into mixture gently until mixed well. Ensure there is still lots of air and bubbles
  4. Pour mixture into cake tin
  5. Spin and tap tin to flatten cake mixture and remove air bubbles
  6. Bake for 180 C for 20 minutes
  7. Cool cake completely before applying icing
  8. Decorate your plate with your favorite fruits

Wake Me Up Green Smoothie

wake me up green smoothieGreen smoothies are very refreshing and healthy. It’s a great way to start the morning! One morning, I felt like making myself a green smoothie to start the day. In my fruit basket, I only had some bananas and kiwi fruits. So I decided to just use these ingredients for my smoothie. This combination of fruit works well especially when you add the nutritious supplement, Deepgreen Alkalising Superfood, with apple juice!

So here’s the simple smoothie recipe I used for making this delicious breakfast drink!

Transfer smoothie to another glass and decorate it with a slice of banana! It looks great! Now it’s ready to drink!

Healthy Berryradical – Cinnamon Popcorn Snack

berryradical-cinnamon popcorn

Making your own popcorn can be a fun and healthy experience. The ones that I find at the cinemas are usually very buttery and salty, which is why it tastes so good. But, I always find that my skin starts to develop a new pimple whenever I have those oily popcorn. So it makes me avoid buying and eating them.

If I am at home, I can make my own popcorn and add some other ingredients so that it’s healthy. I can enjoy them while watching a great movie with friends. It’s also better for the waistline too.

Here’s a good recipe idea that I decided to experience with. Watch my video demonstration!

1 1/2 tablespoons Miessence Berry Radical

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon powder

1 1/2 tablespoon raw sugar

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

1/4 Cup organic popcorn kernels

  1. Combine Berryradical, cinnamon, sugar, and salt, in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. Use popcorn machine to pop popcorn kernels and add powder mixture into popcorns while they are still hot
  3. Give it a good mix until you are satisfied with the coating of popcorns
  4. Enjoy!

Multi-layered Berry Radical Cupcakes

multi-layered berry radical cupcakes

If you have time and want to have a bit of fun with your cake mixture, making multi-layered cupcakes is something to experiment with. When the cupcake is cut open, you will see a nice little pattern, as shown in the picture above. The berry radical was used instead of cocoa because it has extra health benefits. It’s very high in antioxidants and you only need to use a little bit of it to get that nice brown colour.

In my video below, I will demonstrate how you can create that lovely multi-layered look using the cake mixture. Any left over cake mixture that was not used for layering the cake was still placed into paper cups to bake to avoid wastage. Still tastes great!

Ingredients required:

185g Unsalted Butter (softened)

3/4 Cup Caster Sugar

1/2 teaspoon of vanilla essence

3 Eggs

2 Cups Self-raising flour

1/2 Cup Milk

2 tablespoons Miessence Berry Radical

Hot Water

Icing Sugar for sprinkling

  1. Preheat oven to 375ºF (or 190ºC).
  2. Cream butter, sugar, and vanilla essence until light, white, and fluffy.
  3. Add beaten eggs gradually, beating well after each addition.
  4. Mix in sifted flour and add milk.
  5. In a separate bowl, add 2 tablespoons of Miessence Berry Radical and add a little bit of hot water. Mix well.
  6. Spoon about half the amount of cake mixture into a separate bowl.
  7. Add and mix the berry radical into one of the bowls with the cake mixture. You should have two different coloured cake mixtures to work with now.
  8. Place your paper patty cases/cups into the patty cake tin
  9. Add layers of each colour cake mixture into each patty case/cups
  10. Place into oven and bake for 30 minutes.
  11. Let it cool before sprinkling the cupcakes with some icing sugar to decorate them

Stuffed Red Capsicums With Deep Green Superfood Salad

Stuffed capsicums with deep green superfood salad

For those capsicum lovers out there. I want to share with you this recipe that I created recently. It’s healthy and a nice light meal for lunch or dinner. It serves 4. You can watch the below video where I demonstrated how you can prepare and cook this meal. It only takes 30 minutes to steam. That is why I chose to steam them rather than baking them.

  • 4 Large Red Capsicums
  • 1 tin tuna slices in olive oil blend
  • 1 egg
  • left over steamed rice
  • salt and pepper (for tasting)
  • 1 teaspoon Miessence Deepgreen superfood
  • Virgin olive oil
  • Food Steamer

  1. Cut the tops off the capsicums and remove all seeds.
  2. Chop the tops to little pieces as they will be used as the salad on the side.
  3. In a medium bowl, transfer the rice into it, breaking it up as you do it.
  4. Add the tuna slices and mix into the rice.
  5. Make a small hole in the middle of mixture and crack an egg  into it. Mix well.
  6. Add salt and pepper. If you want more taste, you can add more.
  7. Fill the empty capsicums with this mixture.
  8. Steam for 30 minutes in a food steamer.
  9. Place capsicum on plate and add the capsicum pieces on side as your salad.
  10. Add 1 teaspoon of Miessence DeepGreen Alkalising Superfood into the salad.
  11. Add a little bit of virgin olive oil, then mix.

Now it’s ready to eat. Enjoy!

Pick me up snacks: Radical Balls

Radical balls

Who love snacks during the day? We all have those cravings…

Recently, I made some very delicious Radical Balls. The reason why I call them radical balls is because I put an antioxidant ingredient called BerryRadical superfood into these tasty balls. It gives it that lovely brown colour.

1/2 Cup Biscuit Crumbs

2 teaspoons Miessence Berry Radical Superfood

2 tablespoons dessicated coconut

2 tablespoons condense milk

Extra dessicated coconut for coating balls

Add all the dry ingredients together (except the extra coconut), and then add condense milk which sticks all the dry ingredients together. You need to use you hands to mix everything thoroughly first, and then make the balls and roll them quickly into the extra coconut. If you want them to be really firm, can place them in the fridge.

In the below video, I demonstrated how you can make these delicious snacks. The kids will love them for sure! I made 8 radical balls with this recipe. Go ahead and watch my video…it is worth it to make this at home.

Thanks for watching! Hope you really enjoyed it.

Super Healthy Fruity Milkshake

Super Fruity Milk ShakeSometimes, I like to make myself a delicious milkshake by adding my favorite fruits and superfoods in there. Recently, I created a video showing people how I made this fruity milkshake with the Miessence superfoods.

This may be something that you would like to try  out if you decide to do a 10 Day Miessence Vitality Challenge that I explained about in my previous post called ‘A Better Me In Ten Days’. You can read it here. CLICK HERE.

This milkshake is similar to a previous one that I made, which is shown in this post called ‘How To Make Your Own Probiotic’. Check it out here. CLICK HERE

The only difference with this milkshake is that it doesn’t have pear and yoghurt in it. In fact, it has the InLive Miessence probiotic in it instead. This is even better than yoghurt itself!

There’s an awesome video that explains about the superfoods really well. Check out my post called ‘Superfoods – My Miracle Food!’ CLICK HERE

My DeepGreen Alkalising Breakfast

Today, I would like to share with you what I have every morning to start my day. I made a video below to show you how I turned my cereal into a green, healthy, and alkalising meal, by adding my favorite superfood, the Miessence DeepGreen Alkalising superfood! This breakfast gives me lots of energy in the morning to do what I need to do.

I have been pretty creative lately with my DeepGreens, just turning some other foods green like my Potato and Gravy and my oats with chia seeds. I think it’s good to sometimes play with food as long as it keeps me healthy and happy.

What do you think of my breakfast? Would you do something like this? Share your thoughts by commenting below!

My Nutritious Lunch In Under 5 Minutes

We all have days where we are so busy, which leaves very little time to prepare lunch. The good news is that lunch doesn’t have to take so long to prepare and still be delicious and nutritious.

Today, I made a very quick and simple lunch in less than 5 minutes! It was very healthy and was also filling too!

Now you are wondering what kind of meal I made. Find out by watching my video!

Superfoods that I used in my meal includes Chia Seeds and DeepGreens

I like to use chia seeds in this meal because it tastes great and it is also rich in essential fatty acids, protein, soluble fibre, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. The DeepGreens are great for alkalising and detoxing my body.

Not long ago, I created a video where I added these DeepGreens into my KFC potato and gravy. Want to see what it looks like? Read my blog post called “My Nutritious Green Potato and Gravy”. CLICK HERE!
