Garden and flower shows are great places to hang around on a nice sunny weekend.
This year, the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show was held in the Royal Exhibition Building and surrounding Carlton Gardens (March 25th – 29th, 2015).
This event features some of the best landscapes and floral talent that Australia has to offer. There were also food stalls and a broad range of garden products and flowers available for people to purchase.
I attended this event on the Sunday 29th March. It was such a lovely warm day. Captured many beautiful photos of this event and would like to share some of the highlights here.
While having a stroll in the beautiful Carlton Gardens, I came across this interesting board from Momentum Energy that demonstrates how you can save energy. This company specializes in a variety of eco-friendly solutions such as solar energy, LED lighting, compost, rain water runoff and recycled materials.
Led Smart Facts
In the below picture, it reads:
- Halogen downlights last between 2,5o0 and 4,000 hours. LED lights last up to 50,000 hours
- A 10-watt LED light will use 80% less power and last up to 20 times longer than a 50-watt halogen
- During the lifetime of a LED you could:
- Watch 33,000 Soccer Matches
- Travel from Adelaide to Darwin by train 1,100 times
- Watch 23 Bond movies back to back over 1000 times.
Do the LED Smart facts encourage you to make a switch from halogen to LED lights?
This is Momentum Energy’s ‘reduce, reuse, and recycle’ garden theme. I thought it was quite unique!
A mountain of pumpkins
This photo of a huge mountain of pumpkins caught my attention. I really liked this unique idea from the Diggers Club.
There were so many people hanging around this mountain and taking many pictures.
There were pumpkins of different sizes, shapes, and type.
There were lots of unique art work displayed in Carlton Gardens. There was a table where people can put their vote for their favorite art sculptures.
Award Winning Garden Landscapes
There were lots of unique garden landscapes, but I’ve only captured the ones that stood out for me.
Inside the Royal Exhibition Building, there was a good display of floral talent. It was great to see that there are people who have spent many hours to make some unique floral designs.
Hope you have enjoyed this post and the many unique pictures that I have captured at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show.
