How To Make Your Own Probiotic

eating yoghurtHave you ever thought about making your own probiotic? Recently, I have been making my own delicious probiotic to keep myself healthy. It’s not necessary to go out and buy ready-made ones like fruity yoghurt, probiotic drinks, or capsules.

If you make your own, at least you will know exactly what you have put into it. You can include the fruits that you love and enjoy it more.

If you don’t already know what probiotic is… it is the beneficial bacteria that are added to certain foods like yoghurt to help improve your health. Probiotics are good for those who are on antibiotic treatment too because it will replenish your gut with beneficial bacteria and keep the balance. Recently, I have been experimenting with a few of my favorite fruits to make my own probiotic. I love strawberries and blueberries because they are sweet, have good levels of antioxidants, and are high in vitamin C. I also love the taste of pear as well. So I filled my blender cup with these three fruits.

Then, I scooped a blob of natural greek yoghurt, which contains mainly milk and bacterial cultures, and filled the cup with enough milk.


For an extra alkalising effect from my home-made probiotic, I used one teaspoon of the Miessence DeepGreen Alkalising Superfood. This product contains freeze dried certified organic blue-green algae, green grass juices and leafy green vegetables. Adding this into the mix will help detoxify and alkalise my cells, boost my immune system, and give me that feeling of having more energy. You can find out more about this product HERE!


Once all the ingredients have been added, the attachment with blades are screwed onto the cup and ready to blend until everything has been mixed well and smooth. Then a lid is placed on the cup so that it can be stored in the fridge for a little later during the day. I usually have it straight away!

Here is my cup of nutritious, alkalising, and healthy probiotic for the day! It was absolutely delicious! 


It’s always best to drink it on the day it was made. If you don’t like milk, you can always use other types of liquids like soymilk, almond milk, or rice milk. It is worth experimenting with different types of ingredients to find out what you like most.

Probiotics will repopulate our gut with beneficial bacteria to restore the balance, repair and prevent digestive problems. They are also helpful in protecting people from acquiring drug-resistant bacteria, which is a problem with overuse of antibiotics.

According to Natural News, a study was conducted where hospital patients taking probiotics had a reduced chance of acquiring resistant bacteria by 70 percent. This is good news!
